Alicia Farris
Alicia Farris in an Internationally recognized watercolor artist and has won numerous awards in both watercolor and acrylic painting. She devotes herself full-time to creating art and sharing her passion through teaching watercolor and acrylic workshops both locally and throughout the country.
The personalities and flavors of people that she encounters in day-to-day life definitely inspire her work. Even if it’s for trying to just capture a mood, she usually has one hand on her camera when she’s in a crowd. She tries to recreate not just an image, but mood, light, and colors that capture her imagination. Alicia likes to isolate what seems common and try to recreate it in a different light, all the while, providing a source of emotion for the viewer.
Among much recognition, Farris has received many new accolades recently: she was recently accepted into the 96th International Exhibition of the National Watercolor Society and received signature status with NWS, was awarded the Edgar A. Whitney award in the Southwestern Watercolor Society Exhibit in Richardson, Texas, was accepted into the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies National exhibition, Kansas Watercolor Society National Exhibition, Northwestern Watercolor Society Member’s show, and received best of show awards in both the St. Louis Watercolor Society and the nine-state Missouri Valley Impressionists Society National exhibitions. In September of 2018, Alicia received 1st Place award in the Reader’s Competition of the International publication, The Art of Watercolour magazine for her painting “Meeting of the Minds.” She received a 4-page feature in the December issue of The Art Of Watercolour and a 2-page feature in the European leading fine arts magazine, Pratique de Arts.
Farris’ work has been published in Watercolor Artist, Signature, Missouri Life as well as international publications, Art Of Watercolour and Pratique de Arts magazines.
